I work with clients facing a large variety of issues, including depression, work stress, social and generalized anxiety, PTSD, eating disorders, grief and chronic health conditions. I also love working with women to help them feel empowered and live the life of their dreams!
While there are many different types of counselling, I'll mainly use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) to help you understand and work through your concerns. CBT helps change cognitions (thoughts, beliefs, attitudes) and behaviours to influence change. It's the most researched and proven form of therapy.
I also use Positive Psychology a lot in my practice; positive psychology takes the appraoch that rather than trying to change the "bad" in our lives, we should look for what's working in our lives and increase that. This approach can be a lot more uplifting than some other forms of therapy, leaving people feeling uplifted and hopeful.
What's most important to know about my counselling ist hat it is individualized to you. It doesn't "have" to look like anything other than what you want it to look like. If we try something and it isn't working for you, let me know and we'll try something new! The best counselling appraoch is whatever works best for you!
