About Angie

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I earned a Bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2008 and a Master of Counselling Psychology at City University, Vancouver campus, in 2018.

I have twelve years of experience working alongside individuals and families who have been impacted by various mental health concerns and challenging life circumstances. I have engaged in ongoing education and process groups in a variety of areas in my field including Gestalt training, trauma-informed therapy, EMDR certification and extensive mental health and substance use related education.

Over the last four years I have been practicing as a Registered Clinical Counsellor in both private practice and community. I am dedicated to creating a safe and supportive space in order to facilitate personal insight, growth and transformation based on the unique needs and values of each person that comes to see me.

Though I look forward to welcoming and learning about each person that comes to see me, there are several populations and issues that I have particular expertise and experience in, which include: LGBTQ2S+ population; interpersonal issues; life transitions; sport and athletic culture; depression, anxiety and shame; and grief and loss.

The society in which we live bombards us with expectations, ideals, and norms, which are often absorbed on an unconscious level, and can only be recognized and deconstructed when we take the time to reflect, and analyze how we truly feel about and fit within them – and this can only be done if we feel safe to do so.

Working from a humanistic and collaborative approach, I believe in the notion emulated in the law of the singular event, which holds that we must encounter people in their own uniqueness, approaching every situation as though it has never been seen before. With this in mind, I am dedicated to creating a safe, supportive and compassionate space for individuals to begin their unique journey. I believe that the counselling process is a collaborative one and that feeling connection, value, and respect is crucial in order to support individuals, couples and families towards physical, emotional and mental well-being.
