Although we have likely heard ‘time heals all’ – in my personal journey as a trauma survivor and a clinician, I have found that sometimes the most profound, transformative healing takes place within the safety of a supportive client-therapist relationship. I understand how having authentic connections can impact our ability to fully engage ourselves in the work needed to create change. I will draw from my clinical experience using EMDR, somatic expereincing, narrative, dialectical and cognitive behavioural informed therapies to create the most effective counselling sessions for you. I hold both a Bachelors & Masters degree in Social Work and bring 16 years compassionate experience in community-based & healthcare settings providing trauma-informed, spiritually sensitive and culturally safe counselling for individuals, families and groups.
Many of my private practice clients are simple or complex trauma survivors including some military and RCMP veterans who report significant reduction in their PTSD symptoms following EMDR therapy. Many clients experience a new & sustained ability to self-regulate and self-soothe during stressfull or triggering situations. Becoming more aware of our stress responses and practicing mind-body attunement can allow us to develop a more integrated & positive sense of self and ultimately enhance our quality of life.
