I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association for Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) and have a Bachelors degree in Psychology and a Masters of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology.
Approach and Style of Counselling: I understand how nerve-wracking counselling can be, regardless of whether it is your first time or you're a seasoned expert. That's why I value and prioritize solidifying a therapeutic relationship and creating a space that you feel heard, valued, and safe.
I offer a holistic and integrative approach, tailored to each person, using resources and techniques from a variety of perspectives including Emotion Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Based Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. I understand that not everyone is the same and so approaches will always be guided and tailored to your individual needs.
Ultimately, I aim to guide you towards a better understanding of your experiences and emotions, develop tools to manage your symptoms, and ground you in a foundation of self-compassion.
My experience over the years have included working with youth, adults, and couples navigating a variety of different challenges. I also have experience creating curriculum and running groups on anxiety. Additionally, my clinical research experience includes researching and understanding the needs of immigrant populations when seeking marriage counselling.
A foundational philosophy of my practice is an active commitment to social and racial justice on an individual, community, institutional and social scale. With an anti-oppressive framework, I strive for providing modern mental health services that reflect the values of a culturally sensitive well-being.
Areas of Speciality: anxiety, relationships, depression, self-esteem & body image, acculturation stresses, bi-cultural identities, life transitions, personal growth, and adolescent challenges.
