I have worked with kids since I was 18years old as a summer youth camp leader. My career has continued to grow and my passion for helping kids has not faultered.
Throughout my career I have worked with developmental disorders and learned about different languages of communicating with kids. I have also worked in alternate settings like outreach programs, youth detention centres and settings for kids dealing with Trauma.
I have travelled and taught in other countries like Taiwan, Cambodia and Australia. In addition to some non-profit work in Central America. These experiences definitely tie into my counselling, in that I not only understand different cultures but I understand people’s feelings when in a new place that is foreign.
I do behaviour consulting with children and their families and work with understanding behaviour and teaching methods for regulating emotions or correcting it. Typically this also means uncovering emotions that are hidden behind anger.
I support families in a variety of ways, one being with groups I run or workshops I hold.
I am skilled in a variety of counselling methods, but for younger children art, play and sand therapy are common methods to use. Typically, though, the presenting needs of every child or youth is assessed prior to introducing different forms of therapy.
