Many people try for years to solve their own problems. You might be putting so much work and effort into changing, only to find yourself repeating familiar patterns, feeling defeated, and not knowing what to do next. Feeling like you need to be able to "handle" everything that life throws at you. Feeling like you should be able to figure it all out on our own. Going over reasons why you might be struggling, and brainstorming new solutions. It is exhausting!
Having a fresh set of ears and eyes helps us see things from a different perspective. Some stuff we just can see because we're "in it". If you're lucky enough to have supportive friends and family, they can be such a help to talk to. But sometimes we need someone who can handle hearing anything we have to say, and your loved ones might be too close for that.
I'm so lucky to do what I do. I get to sit with people, hear all about what is going on, hear all about how hard they've tried to figure this out, and then actually have something new to offer! Years of school and experience have allowed me to not only understand what the research says is helpful, but know how to ask you the right questions.
The result is that you (being the expert on you), and me (being the expert on change) can really figure out where you're at, where you want to be, and how exactly we're going to get you there.
I love being a counsellor. My favourite thing in the world is getting to see my clients realize their goals. From getting out of cycles of anxiety or depression, to getting in touch with values, to realizing dreams, or even becoming a better partner. Counselling can be life changing. Let’s do this.
