About Aiden

My name is Aiden and I'm a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), and full member of the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA). I obtained my Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology from University of Alberta, and my Master's in Counselling Psychology (MCP) from Adler University. I also completed post-graduate training in psychological assessment from Concordia University of Edmonton. While I was born and raised in New Zealand, I have called Canada (specifically Toronto, Edmonton, and now Vancouver) home for the past 15 years.

As someone who has successfully overcome generalized and social anxiety myself, I truly understand the hardship of living with chronic stress and depression. This has helped me to work with clients from a genuine place of empathy, warmth, and kindness, as I am able to relate to being in the role of the client.

Issues I can help you with include:

  • Anxiety & Panic
  • Relationship Issues
  • Low Self-Esteem & Confidence
  • Grief & Loss
  • Trust & Intimacy Issues
  • Communication Issues
  • Past Trauma
  • Professional Burnout
  • Life Transitions
  • Personal Growth

It has been my experience that although people may often seek help for similar symptoms (e.g. low mood, panic), the root cause of these symptoms varies for everyone, and can be related to anything from the current relationship/work stress, to early childhood neglect. I see it as my task to support you in a way that is authentic, transparent, and collaborative, to help you develop insight around the root causes of your challenges. In order to do this effectively I draw on a variety of treatment approaches including Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Existential Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.

I recognize that beginning therapy can be a nerve-wracking and intimidating process in and of itself, and I make it my priority to do everything I can to answer any questions you may have around safety, trust, and confidentiality. To this end, I offer a free 30 minute consultation to assess goodness of fit before beginning sessions.

I invite you to reach out to me so that we can discuss whether I may be the right person to support you in your process of healing and growth.
