To help clients with their healing Barbara begins with a thorough assessment of strengths, challenges and resources. Together with the client, specific therapeutic and educational goals are established. Depending upon goals established, Barbara then works with clients in specific areas such as resource information and education, developing personal awareness and insight, practicing healthy coping skills and strategies, developing effective communication and relationship skills, and creating and implementing plans for positive change. Depending upon the specific needs of her client, Barbara draws upon many therapeutic approaches and methods, including client-centred, mindfulness, narrative, feminist, CBT, and EMDR (certified at Level 2).
