Welcome to Hanna Hilyer Counselling! I’m Hanna.
I am a Registered Social Worker (#14141) with a Master of Social Work (Clinical specialization) from the University of British Columbia. I am passionate about working with youth, young adults, and families experiencing a variety of challenges. I have completed specialized training in family counselling and therapy for anxiety and depression, and am knowledgeable and experienced in using various evidence-based therapies to treat diverse mental health concerns.
In my practice, I strive to create a space where clients feel safe to open up and explore their experiences. I employ a strengths-based approach that highlights clients’ strengths and resources within themselves and their communities. Working with a counsellor can be an effective way to make meaningful changes in your life. Through our collaborative work together, I will work hard to help you harness your strengths and resources, and take actions towards living a fulfilling life.
I take an integrative approach to counselling, weaving many evidence-based therapies in my counselling practice. Most notably, my practice is informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT).
