About Madeleine

You will receive a warm, kind, caring and compassionate, non-judgmental approach to counselling to help you reach a happier state of mind, empower yourself to move forward with your life, and to create positive and compassionate beliefs about yourself, in order to appreciate your own unique sense of value and worth.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology, and certification in EMDR 2.0. I will work with you to help you find a way through the barriers that are keeping you stuck.

I believe you can grow and make positive changes in your life to reach your full potential and I help you see your strengths and beauty within. A few words spoken by my clients, “You have changed my life forever. I am so thankful I have found you...” “Because of you, I now give myself permission to be happy...” “I was so stuck, and I now I see a way forward…”

If you are facing challenges in:

  • PTSD
  • Complex Trauma
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Low Self-Esteem
  • Anger Management
  • Toxic Shame
  • Wounded Emotional Boundaries
  • Childhood Sexual Abuse
  • Dissociation
  • Life Transitions
  • Relationships

or other areas which you believe counselling could be helpful in resolving, I welcome the opportunity to work with you, to bring about the change you want to see in your life.

I specialize in  EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), to help you move past trauma and pain. I work with CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) to help you discover your internalized negative beliefs and help you create more adaptive positive beliefs. I help you resolve any issues you may be facing, and I make sure you get the coping tools you need to move forward with your life. I work with a variety of other techniques and modalities, and customize my approach to each client's needs. I use practical hand’s on tools that are emailed to you after our session for your reference that provide you with the ability to review and practice new skills and ways of thinking. I have trained with the best of the industry leaders in my field because I believe it is my job to provide you with the most up to date, effective techniques available, so you get the help and results you deserve.

Specialty areas include:

Surviving to Thriving through PTSD: addressing re-experiencing; recognizing and understanding avoidance and numbing maladaptive coping behaviours; how to calm hyper-arousal; how to shift negative cognitions and mood; how to gain emotion regulation; and how to create positive core belief systems.

Understanding Anxiety: how to calm the alarm; how anxiety manifests itself in the body; the anxiety loop; root causes of anxiety; and tools for how to relax during anxiety.

Creating Healthy Self-Esteem: how to build, strengthen, and maintain self-esteem; how to have unconditional self-esteem; understanding ways we give power away; how to communicate feelings, needs and opinions; how to understand emotions; and how to enable ourselves to pursue dreams and goals.

Working Through Anger: how to recognize thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and behaviours associated with anger; what are areas of hidden anger; how to communicate through anger; and how to recognize triggers when our emotional boundaries are violated.

Overcoming Toxic Shame: understanding shame; how to build shame resilience; how to recognize shame triggers; what are unwanted identities; and what do shame screens look like?

Wounded Emotional Boundaries: understanding what emotional boundaries are; what are the differences between unclear, unhealthy, rigid, damaged and no boundaries; how do we learn boundaries; what are the consequences of damaged boundaries; what are the guidelines for setting boundaries; how to develop healthy boundaries; how to maintain boundaries; how to communicate boundaries; and what do healthy boundaries look like?

I believe we can work as team to enable you to get the help, healing, growth and change you want to see for yourself. Take a look at my website, and message me for a free consultation.
